ITIL Foundation - Certification

Though this blog is created to predominantly talk about OIM, I thought of sharing this piece of info as I felt this will be more helpful for an IT professional. I will keep things simple and crisp.

What is ITIL?

Acronym for Information Technology Infrastructure Library. It is a set of practises for IT service management (ITSM) that focuses on aligning IT services with the needs of business.

Who should go for it?

If you are an IT professional, mostly into management/support, this certification will enhance your reputation among clients and employers. When you browse on the top certifications for IT professionals, you will end up with this being in the list.

There are various levels to it. ITIL starts with Foundation which covers the basics. This should be enough for everyone.

Examination

Examination has 40 questions. You have 60 minutes. 65% is the pass grade, which means you need to get 26 questions right. No penalty for wrong answers.

Training

Training is not mandatory but few suggest it will be good to have a classroom training.  It is up to the candidate. Materials are available online.

Fees

Exam alone costs around 400$. I couldn't get the exact figures as I am yet to register for the test.

Axelos, who provide this certification, has tie-up with various training providers and  examination institutes. You can choose one of them based on the availability, cost and convenience. Refer the link below for details

As far as I know, this should be an easy one if you are in the industry for sometime. Get certified for better career prospects
